Sujeet Rajan graduated from Grant Medical College in Mumbai and post-graduated in respiratory medicine from the Seth. GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai.

Currently consults at Bhatia Hospital and Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Sciences in Mumbai - has been actively involved in research, teaching, and clinical practice at these two hospitals. Has set up a not-for-profit organization, Breath First Foundation, primarily to work in research, and education of physicians, and patients with lung disease.

His special interest is interstitial lung disease where he is currently principal investigator in 3 global clinical trials related to newer drugs for both IPF, and PPF in non-IPF ILDs. In REMAP-ILD, he is attempting to identify potential investigators and sites in India.

He was the ERS National Representative from India between 2015 to 2018, has over 50 publications to his credit, and is currently organizing chair for the WASOG meeting in India.

Organizing multiple ILD courses and updates in India, it has been frustrating to see low levels of research in ILD from India despite very high patient numbers and tremendous clinical outputs from approximately 6500 pulmonologists across India. Affordable antifibrotics have helped tremendously in India, but research lags behind.

REMAP - ILD's style would allow multiple interventions to be tested in ILD in India besides just new drugs. Older repurposed drugs, so too pulmonary rehabilitation in ILD, and palliative care in ILD.
