Rayid Abdulqawi, MD, PhD, is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University. He founded the Manchester Interstitial Lung Diseases Meeting (MILD) in 2017. Dr. Abdulqawi completed his training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in the West Midlands Deanery, UK, in 2015, and was awarded his PhD by the University of Manchester in 2014, focusing on the mechanisms and therapies of chronic cough. Previously, he worked as a consultant respiratory physician with a interest in ILD at Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. In 2018, he relocated to Saudi Arabia, where he continues to manage patients with ILD and lung transplants.
I am passionate about REMAP-ILD because I witness daily the challenges faced by patients with lung fibrosis, who often have limited treatment options and succumb to respiratory failure. By joining REMAP-ILD, I am contributing to an international and innovative clinical trial design that aims to accelerate the development of effective and safe treatments for interstitial lung diseases, thereby offering hope and improving patient outcomes.
